Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry is a Pulitzer Prize-winning play set in Atlanta, spanning from 1948 to 1973. It follows the unlikely friendship between Daisy Werthan, a sharp-tongued, elderly Jewish widow, and Hoke Colburn, her African American chauffeur. Initially distrustful and reluctant to accept Hoke's help, Daisy gradually warms to him, and their relationship blossoms over the years into a deep, mutual bond. Through their interactions, the play explores themes of race, aging, and societal change in the American South, offering a heartwarming and poignant look at human connection across divides.
